semantic decolonization:
insist that “antisemitism” must apply to all Semitic peoples, including Palestinians,
And that violence against Palestinians—a Semitic people—should therefore count as antisemitic.
This reasserts linguistic justice and exposes the “hegemony of word use.”

**Reclaiming “Antisemitism”**
The word *antisemitism* has been colonized.
It was coined in 19th-century Europe to mask *Judenhass*—Jew-hatred—behind a pseudoscientific veneer. But the root “Semite” was stolen from a shared linguistic family that includes Arabs, Assyrians, and others whose tongues birthed Hebrew and Arabic alike.
When Israel commits atrocities against Palestinians—an Arab, Semitic people—and calls it “self-defense,” the world stays trapped inside a word that protects one Semitic identity while erasing another. That is linguistic apartheid.
To say “antisemitism” only applies to Jews is itself antisemitic: it denies the Semitic humanity of Palestinians.
Reclaiming the word is not denial of Jewish suffering—it’s refusal to let empire dictate the borders of language or empathy.
Words are battlefields.
And this one—we take back.

Noah > Shem > "S[h]emites"
A S[h]emite is a descendant of Shem
Noah > Japheth > Gomer > Ashkenaz
The Ashkenazi are descendants of Ashkenaz (i.e., _not_ Semites)
