For those that want to learn more about what I do in my lab : I work on understanding how certain proteins interact inside human cells. To do this, I grow bacteria (E. coli) to produce the DNA I need, transfer it into human cells, and then study the proteins with lab techniques that let me see how they behave. My main focus is the interaction between the Shank3 protein and the HCN channel. When this interaction doesn’t work properly, it has been linked to conditions like autism spectrum disorders, epilepsy, and memory or learning difficulties. By studying this connection, my goal is to bring new insights that could one day help find solutions for these kinds of neurological problems.
