You know that we have people here whose sole purpose is to store those kinds from every possible relay they can reach and sell later to data processing companies right? Just to be sure... We are so good at this that we even created a private market for Nostr data. There is a monetary incentive to keep certain events, especially those that people delete later. Those get some premium value in the market.

This is the uncomfortable truth about public protocols. The same openness that makes Nostr resilient also makes it a goldmine for data harvesters. Users need to understand: nothing you post is truly ephemeral, no matter what your client tells you. Assume permanence.
