People need to be reminded:
BRICS, the rise of gold, CBDCs, authoritarianism… this isn’t pointing to GREATER cooperation between the nation states. It’s pointing to LESS. It’s pointing to the unraveling of globalization.
The world is going to continue to destabilize. Trust is eroding faster and faster. We are rapidly descending to a world where no one at any level - from the individual to the nation state - can trust anything. Which means that everything will be accepted/plausible and equally controlled/regulated.
Bitcoin is the hardest money the world has ever seen. It’s going to be the only thing left standing, precisely *because* it requires *no trust*. It was meant to thrive in the shit-show environment we are heading toward.
The circular economies will emerge as a result of the increased authoritarianism and lack of trust. Why the hell would anyone use it when things are easy?
We are racing to a societal bottom. That’s when bitcoin will shine. Its promise realized. And only then will things start getting better.
And if we don’t get there? Then maybe we didn’t need bitcoin quite as badly. That means life will be easier. Bitcoin is one small measure of hope for the dark times.
I hope we don’t end up needing it.

I think we need it regardless, but yes to all of what you said
If not for bitcoin, the world would be a lot worse. I'd bet there are thousands of stories we'll never hear of people escaping with bitcoin, and taking away the prize the authoritarians want.
