The respect nostr folk have for Monero makes me optimistic. It looks like toxic Bitcoin maximalism is actually slowing down. There are some holdouts clinging to the ideology, of course, but their arguments are so painfully awful and their meme game so weak that it gives me hope. I look forward to the day the toxic maxis like @npub1xkz6...4waa and Giacomo return to nostr to get bodied. image This meme is too good @Frank #Monero

Maxis (especially English speaking) are dead. Retarded maxis forked of to LukeCoin and reasonable maxis ("stay humble, stack sats") got slaughtered in cold card hack.
I understand that monero is private by design, which is an advantage compared to bitcoin. So how does it compare security wise to bitcoin? I thought there was a mining attack on monero a few months ago. And what about the on-chain transaction throughput?. Bitcoin can't even sustain a small village economy. How is monero doing in this regard?

It's shocking people still desperately cling on to this weird ideology even after having their shit hacked because of coldcard

The reorg saga happened last year. It peaked at 18 blocks. If you have concern over it, you can wait 30 confirmations before being confident in the PoW (60 minutes is equivalent to Bitcoin's recommended 6 confirmations). I think Bitcoin is less likely to experience this sort of thing at this stage. But I think Monero is better positioned for the long term because Bitcoin's hashrate is centralizing among regulated and KYCed entities. Monero's ASIC resistant PoW is a better incentive structure for decentralized hashrate. The on-chain throughput is good and can handle more throughput with dynamic block sizes. I think it can sustain a small village economy. It's already sustaining a portion of the Internet's economy and can handle more.
