It’s in my view that they should learn about the “money thing” that being how money really works- fiat vs hard currency. His biggest problem being he can’t seem to save a dime because of debt he’s in. He’s claiming he wants to learn about investing and stuff but at the same time it’s too hard for him to do so while he is in debt in his perspective.
I guess if he is getting out of debt he is in a situation where he is learning about money but I’m not trying to save him, I just think it might be beneficial to him as a side income to do his art for V4V as he is mostly passionate about that as he has a film degree.

Totally agree with you man, everybody should learn the fiat vs hard money topic, that's the foundation of it all.
I'm afraid that if his mindset is "I'm too much in deep debt to learn about money", then he will never improove his situation. Has ever thought that maybe he's in this situation and cannot get out of it exactly because he has not learnt about money? And what's his plan to get out of the situation he's in? Does he even have a plan or he is trying to survive day by day and hoping that somehow magically one day he'll get out of his situation?
I don't mean to shit on your friend, mine is frustration because I had the exact same conversations with some of my friends who have the same mindset as your friend here. I'm frustrated because I'd like to help/support them, but they come back with excuse after excuse and refuse to deidcate even 2 hours a week (which is nothing!) to study a bit, I even volounteer to study together to help them but nothing! Some people just have a victim mentality, are not curious, and don't have the drive
