The AP reports in lots of countries not just the US, we are the only ones calling it "Gulf of America", the rest of the world is still going to call it Gulf of Mexico. So the Associatef Press is using language that makes their reporting understood to the widest number of people.
The fact that Trump and MAGA don't seem to comprehend this very simple idea this tells me all I need to know.
