I have used hive before, mainly because of play to earn games. I'm new to bchnostr so I can't give much of a review yet. But hey, great comparison and explanation there!

Nostr works because it's not a blockchain. Anyone can run their own relay. And each person running a relay decides what data they want to relay. With a blockchain everyone has an identical copy of all the data. If nostr was a blockchain nobody would be able to afford to run a relay.
