Totally agree with everything written here, Guy. One bit that never gets addressed - the past has happened, there are generations of engrained hatred, and Iran is quite open about its intentions toward Israel. So, if you were Israel and everywhere you look from your window you see threats, what would you do? i.e. let us assume they do nothing. Does Iran suddenly change its goals? And if not, what next? We wait until they can accomplish the goal?

Here's what I'd do if I had laid claim to land that was already granted to me illegally (see Balfour Declaration, Haavara Agreement): Don't ever be the aggressor in any case, invest only in strong defenses. Don't expand your country's borders further via settler colonialism by burning down and shooting at people who currently live on that land. Don't force native people into open air prisons under Apartheid. Don't run an international assassination and terror squad under the guise of a foreign intelligence service. Don't put "post future land grab Greater Israel" patches on your soldiers uniforms Don't commit genocides. Don't shoot at starving people seeking foreign aid provided post genocide. Don't have your officials publicly declare the previous inhabitants to be subhuman animals that must be eradicated. Don't run to the big brother (that you control via blackmail, monetary influence, religious zealots) after provoking the wrong enemy. I could go on.
Someone has to stop killing people first. Of all we do is say “sure we killed some people, but now their sons want to kill us, so what can we do but kill their sons too?” Then this never ends. Literally. The question is, who is going to have the courage to stop being a total fucking horrible human being?

None of this is actually about religion. It's about property rights. If an Israeli leader wanted peace, all he would have to do is apologize for all of his predecessors' crimes and then actually allow all people of all ethnicities to buy & own property. He'd have to stop funding Hamas & allow Gaza to develop & simply institute efficient police & courts that do their jobs. That is all that is needed to take the wind out of all of all terror cells. People do not naturally want to fight & die. They resort to such behaviors when their loved ones are killed & their lives have been destroyed. That doesn't mean all people can be made peaceful. Obviously everyone should have gun rights & there should be strong support for self defense (this would solve most problems in most places). Of course the US would also probably need to shut down ~700 military bases. And all of the above would require the ousting of a multi-national psychopathic pedo cabal in which the members are all allied through mutually assured destruction. The problem is that govt creates an inverted morality where some people do better when others lose & this attracts the same sort of child fuckers all over the world. image
How about this: Doing everything necessary to find a mutually acceptable solution at the negotiating table? Reconciliations are possible, even between arch-enemies. There are examples. The will to do so must be there. I‘m a Dreamer, I know. But I‘m not the only one.
