Great question. Here’s general answer: In the Army, PSYOPS is part of US Army Special Operations Command. When people think of Special Ops, they automatically think Rangers and Special Forces for Army and like Navy SEALs, etc. The military and entertainment media as a whole promote all the “badass” operatives I just mentioned. When you see a movie about how there was this crazy rescue and so on, they show all the kinetic action. But behind the scenes, ever so quietly, the little spiders spinning the narrative webs necessary to get funding, get private and public support, confusing the living shit out of the enemy, creating misdirection, etc etc etc which make the entire operations possible are the Authors known as PSYOPS professionals (Authors). In fact, Authors are the very reason the cowboy shit gets mainstream attention. You can’t operate silently and be ghosts if everyone can see you. Thus, the limelight is given to the “characters” whilst the Authors dictate the script.
