Deleted WhatsApp. The reactions from friends and family are fascinating. They treat it like I've moved to a remote island without a post office. Am I the weird one?
This experience feels strangely familiar. It’s the same look you get when you tell someone you don't trust the banking system. People aren't defending WhatsApp because it's a superior technology for communication, they're defending it because it's the comfortable, centralized default.
It’s a perfect parallel to the Fiat vs. Bitcoin debate:
Fiat / WhatsApp: A centralized system run by a powerful few for their own benefit. Your access can be revoked at any time. You're given convenience in exchange for control.
Bitcoin / Nostr: An open, decentralized protocol that no one owns. You own your keys, your identity, and your assets. It demands personal responsibility but gives you true sovereignty in return.
Leaving the walled garden for the open plains of freedom will always seem strange to those who have never known anything else.
What was your first "weird" step towards sovereignty that got you strange looks? ⚡️🧡

You can use iMessage, SMS or call them, but I get the Point. Lets see how it works out for me.
Deleted FB back in 2014. No one noticed.
2024, friend writes. Said they couldn't reach me. Told them I hadn't been on in a decade. "Oh, didn't know that."
