Agreed. Not everyone has loving parents that are engaged in their children's lives. Like anything else in life, you get what you give. I just got tired of having every phone call be a demand for help with something when they were barely ever there for me.
Ugh, just marked 1 year without my dad. I still so often get the stomach drop moments when I go to call him and realize that’s no longer a thing.
Imperfect parents are still parents, and we did not have the best or most healthy relationship but I still miss the fuck out of him..every..damn..day.
