This is excellent. We are going to look into incorporating some (or all) of this into the core product. Nice work @npub108pv...yev6!
One reminder to all the Nostr devs out there: let's not centralize around Primal's caching infrastructure. Our stack is open source. Anyone can and should stand up their own instances.

I'd still love to see more Primal caching servers so that alternatives exist 🫂💜🤙🏻
Thank you sir! Let me know if I can assist in any way. 🫡
Are there more out there ? Or is Primal’s the only one ? How much would in cost to an individual to spawn up such a service through a vps?
there are not. it's expensive to run. i looked into running one a little over a year ago and it would cost about $120 a month to run one on a VPS.
"Primal's not deliberately making it impossible to self-host, goys! They POOBLISH their code!!!"
Honestly they opened source their solution, 150 USD in nothing some big relays operators can't afford by joining their efforts and sharing the costs, especially if they make it available for a small fee like 1 USD a month.
If nostr become a thing one day maybe some people will be ready to pay for it when kicked out of other caching service.
Ideally Primal could allow his app to still work in "degraded mode" without any caching service though.
I don't know if it's the same for everyone, but for the past two days I haven't been able to connect to primal.net on my web browser, and no matter which browser I use—Firefox, Chrome, Safari—I get the same result. @primal @npub16c0n...6nvr @paul keating 🤷♂

Hey flash. Howard you logged in? With an extension?
Thanks for report 🫡
Yes, I log in with the nos2x extension on Firefox, but even when I use Chrome or Safari, I can't access the primal.net page even though I don't have any accounts logged in on it. Thank you for your prompt response.
Weird. Can you access primal.net in incognito mode? If so, can you login using our remote signer?
We haven't made any changes to the web app in the past few days that could cause this. Let's see if we can get this going for you.
Right now, using Safari in incognito mode, I want to point out that I've been able to access every website in the world except Primal for the past two days :(

Maybe unrelated but my Primal app on Android CalyxOS stopped working yesterday. Unable to connect. Been using Amethyst since. I pay for Primal and prefer it.
Hey thanks for report. Do you mind going to settings —> network. Are you connected to any relays? Do you have enhanced privacy on?
I've tried reinstalling a couple times but first couldn't sign in and now it won't even install.
I can however use Primal on my Mac and have 4 green relays and 4 red. It was the same on the phone except the caching service was also red.
Enhanced privacy is off.
It might be a CalyxOS issue but had been using it for years with no problems.

Try with a vpn.
I always have a VPN running.
@npub1zga0...ppvc check out this thread.
Keep us posted if anything changes on your end @npub1kgja...9kzq and thanks for reporting.
It seems as though Primal is still on my phone but there is no icon. When I try to install from Zapstore or Aurora Store it fails but asks if I want to update. Here's a few relevant screen shots.

I fixed this issue. I had to "Unhide" Primal on my phone. No idea why it was hidden in the first place. I didn't even know this was possible.
Not sure if this related to the disconnection issue before. Either way it's sorted.
Have you tried downloading the APK version from GitHub?
Try that out, should work better.
