we have a picture in our head of our *self*
what if that picture, which we have spent our whole life building was just simply wrong?
a dumb example, ive listened to hours and hours of a history podcast and had a picture in my head of what one of the cohosts must look like based on just the sound of his voice...
then I saw him on a video and it was completely wrong
what if my self image was the same?

When you have partial information you complete that with your idealized image based on your memories and experiences. That person is still himself and very well defined.
The map is not the territory. Still If detailed enough the map is very useful.

are you talking cohost, or are you assuming my gender in this the year of our Lord 2025 🤗
im guessing you mean the cohost? but i was thinking about the image we carry with us every single moment of our life. even when dreaming. what if it was fundamentally wrong. sure it works, we can use it to get through our day
but what if it was completely *wrong* what if it is not who we actually are
Is partially wrong because we do not know every part of ourselves in a conscient way. We are, in fact, surprised by our own reactions when instinct kicks in. We know our inner voice better than anybody else, we know what we think better than anybody else, we do not know what we will do under pressure and in dangerous situations. The fact is that we are not a static being, we move in relation to the external inputs of the world. We have a generically correct knowledge of what we are going to do in every situation we experienced, we have a partial knowledge of what we are going to do in situations we just tested in our imagination, we have no idea of what we are going to do in every other situation.
So it is not wrong, is partial as is partial what other people see about us. Limited by the few interactions they had with us.
yes, but what if... that was my note
what if...
what if it was *wrong*
