73% of spending is just entitlements and the national debt. Republicans hire employees and expand defense and stuff for old folks, and cut taxes. Democrats hire beauracrats and expand stuff for old folks and single moms, and don't cut taxes.

I'm a registered Republican and I think defense is pretty much the only thing any federal government should be spending money on. That and maybe diplomacy, a federal court system, and a state department. If they did that, the gov would be a quarter of its current size. Which sounds about right.
