I think that's exactly right. It'll turn into the same shit we see with politicians. People need money to live on this planet. Unless the plan is to start enslaving people or going full commie, I see no way out of people seeking funding for the work they do. I'd rather it be from an open collective than Bill Gates or some other asshole. And it's a lot easier to say no to them when your family has food and shelter. Otherwise you'd just have to quit and let some other bastard do exactly what you didn't want to do. That's my take. Maybe I'm wrong, but what I've seen in the world suggests I'm right.
