If you want to monetize content, you should be able to do so without asking for permission and without following the constraints of the platform or tools that you're using for your content. i.e I should not have to hit an arbitrary following number or KYC amount before I can get paid.

All platforms, including #nostr have constraints via tools. The attempt of a creator to monetise content on nostr is fully dependent on a platform’s ability to encourage the generosity of its users in the most selfless and frictionless way. Dev’s work on the frictionless bit. The giver however comes first, not the creator. The “asking permission” part falls into the challenge of reducing friction. You can reduce all of the friction in the world but it would mean little if the spirit of generosity is not embodied throughout the users of the frictionless platform. The only power a creator has on nostr is to create to the best of their abilities without exception. Monetisation is %100 the result of the spirit of generosity. View quoted note →
