It's useful for all kinds of things. When a signal may be too weak for voice, morse can come through. You can bounce morse code off of the moon to communicate long distances with minimal wattage. It can be used optically with a light, or using a mirror and the sun. It can be used to communicate through walls. Morse can be faster than SMS with acronyms aand abbreviations. There are computer programs that will convert your typed text and transmit morse, and convert the received morse into text on your screen. If you immerse yourself in morse for too long, there is a chance of going insane. For this reason, the US military limits the number of years a soldier will be assigned as a morse translator.

A friend of mine that was in Army Intelligence told me about that restriction. He also said that he thought the "morse guys" were all a little nuts because they'd verbally use morse code with each other. 🤣
