I wanted X premium but I had to figure out how to pay for it without doxing my location to X. First I tried buying a google play giftcard for a google account (under an alias) with Monero. Google refused to let me subscribe to X because I had a VPN on. It said I could only do it in the United States and even though I tried multiple US servers in different states it refused all of them. Here is where I hit of those choices you have to make all the time between privacy and convenience. I could of just gone to a public wifi network, turned off my VPN, and subscribed to X with my google play balance. But then 4 and a half years of keeping both my general and specific location a secret from Twitter would be flushed down the toilet. Fuck that, so I decided to try out a new service and see if I could pay a different way. Loaded up X on desktop this time so I could try paying with a virtual card. Turns out it's 3 dollars a month cheaper if you sign up for X premium on desktop for some reason. Then I went to paywithmoon.com and bought a virtual card with nonkyced USDC on polygon (You can also pay with BTC). Paywithmoon doesn't require KYC and you can spend 4k a month. I was concerned it wouldn't work because you can't register a name or address to the virtual card. It just spits out a card with no name attached. It worked fine though. X premium acquired, my location is still protected. Processed both the card purchase and the subscription payment w/ stripe over a VPN (Mullvad) using a US based server with no issues. I did pick what I think would be a less popular server which might of helped. The things we say on social media today might come back to bite us in the future. Freedom of speech is becoming less popular and might not always be protected. This is why it is so important to protect your identity and location from social media companies. I'm not trying to get thrown in a prison camp one day for my political opinions. #privacy Ps. No ref link, if you try out paywithmoon be aware I only tried them once with $8.

Nice post. Proton VPN in stealth mode often works better than mullvad.
