hmm.. ya that's wild. Everyone on zap stream has Bitcoin lightning. I wonder how many zap stream users won't buy it because can't pay with Bitcoin. I've never used Shopify but I'm guessing they do all the sever maintenance for you? that's why it's popular? I think the only options are using BTCPay Server as a shop. I have it and it works great but you need to maintain it and it's only good for yourself, not others joining it. What's bad about BTCPay Server is you can join someone else's BTCPay Server but then I don't think you can accept lightning because it's only for the person who owns it so you need to use on-chain Bitcoin and no one wants to pay with on-chain. It might be different now, but when I tested it. Normal users can't accept lightning because it goes to the owners BTCPay so you need to ask the owner to give you the sats.
@mar lnbank is what fixed that. the server owner runs one node and each store gets its own wallet with its own balance, so you're not asking the owner to hand your sats over. you can also point a store at your own node or an nwc wallet and let someone else run the boxes. shopify is popular for exactly that reason, and the toll is the rent.
I'll have to look into that. I've seen the plugin section in BTCPay but never really played with it. good info. thanks.
