#AskNostr what is the cold wallet that you use? Tengem is something I’m looking at right now and would love some Nostr recommendations!

Offline Tails (costs nothing)
AnonNero (costs nothing)
Cupcake (costs nothing)
SeedSigner/MoneroSigner (DIY)
Trezor ($100-200)
Tangem has no Monero support, which is a big NONO
I am ignorant to hardware wallets. What could happen if you have a wallet that doesn’t have Monero and why is Monero important?
If you’re buying one for bitcoin do not buy one that supports other cryptocurrencies…
Matter of fact don’t use more then one crypto per hww/signing device.
That makes sense. It’s seems like a cool set up having back ups and ease of use. Perfect for my parents but I could probably get something more technical. What do you use?
Well I have a few different coldcards, seedsigner/xmrsigner, old ass paper wallets, stamped washers…
Seedsigner and stainless steel washers only. Fully offline. Full FOSS not commercial products.
Monero is the litmus test. You know they are stateist KYC cucks if they don't support it.
Personally I prefer a Swiss bank account over a public display of all my wealth. That's why Monero.
Ok I’ll checkout the wallets you recommended
The ColdCard Q with a StampSeed titanium plate seems like the way to go. I just don’t get how something with a screen and or battery would hold my BTC over the long term. If it gets fucked up or the screen/battery fails it seems like a pain in the ass to recover your BTC
I’ve been eyeing the CoinCard Q and a StampSeed titanium plate which for me seems like a good start into the BTC cold storage realm. Seedsigner is definitely bad ass a something I’m going to invest in the future. I’m not a super tech savvy person. How hard or easy was it for you to build your Seedsigner?
These are great have a couple
Yeah I should get a new one for American sized washers lol
Seedsigner was pretty simple you don’t really have to do much on the assembly. By that I mean they have header pin things so you don’t have to solder. Sorry I can’t find what they are called at the moment
Haha yeah I just ordered a box of the size at my local true-value.
Solderless header riser?
Yeah that thing lol I’m too high to remember lol
Yeah I need to smoke more just took down my plants…
Lots of caterpillars…
Picked so many out today…
It’s true that devices can go bad but the device itself isn’t that important. So long as you have your seed words backed up perhaps in two locations. If you use cold card you can do an encrypted file backup that can be loaded on a different cold card later. Also if you’re not intending to spend but primarily to save to long term cold storage you don’t even necessarily need to keep your seed loaded on any device at all since you can export a list of addresses or use a watch only wallet to generate receive wallets without using a device loaded with the private key at all.
People already made some good recommendations but here is another. Whatever you use just make sure to backup your seed words on steel. Maybe add a passphrase if you think you will remember it. Most common problem by far is not getting hacked it's users losing their seed words.

I’ll check it out. StampSeed titanium plates are what I’ve been looking at or using stainless steel washers.
