For me I’ve no issue with individuals who bring actual institutional knowledge to the public square. Even if I disagree with their positions, if you have relevant experience then it’s a value to the public discourse. My issue is when said expert has demonstrated very poor judgment and even been obscenely incorrect, over an extended period of time, and yet they receive no form of accountability. They just are allowed to prattle on.
