Have you guys heard that Tenor API for devs is no more, and is being shut down (went out of business). If you used their API, you better migrate from them yesterday. 🫡

Tenor is an API to help track what users are thinking and posting by Google. Its the easiest way for Google to connect random sites what are users actually doing in other apps/sites that Google doesn't control.

To be fair I think Nostr will eventually replace a shit ton of centralized services and web components. I don't know enough to get more specific than that, unfortunately
But for GIFs I can imagine a repo like structure over Nostr that no one controls
