I click follow on someones profile and when I check back later my follow did not register on any of the relays I am connected to including my own private relay...

Maybe the client you're using has a bug
Yesterday it seemed like the entire NOSTR universe was slow. My notes from Amethyst and Coracle were not posting Could be all the relays were overloaded with bot traffic. If notes aren't posting, neither would your follows. It is early days! There are glitches! Try today and let me know if your follows are successful
