I listened to The Matrix again yesterday. Watched a little, but mostly listened as I did other things. I was listening with a certain perspectival filter operating in mind. At this point I'm pretty sold that the Wachowskis had amassed a significant amount of esoteric knowledge by the time they wrote this. The spoon bending scene alone betrays knowledge of ongoing transitions but Neo's whole journey, his name, Morpheus's name, Trinity's name, the death and rebirth scene, the flight scene at the very end...there's way too much packed into this movie to be a coincidence. It's an enlightenment allegory. Yes, that applies to Christ who was enlightened, but Neo represents anyone who lights the upper lamps, not Christ exclusively. If you don't believe me, I bet you also don't realize that Cinderella is an enlightenment allegory based on an old Greek story called Rhodopis. Greek heroes were enlightened too. Hero literally derives from Chi and Rho.
