I need opinions, if you are playing a 2d platformer, and you die, do you exact to lose all your coins? Currently my game does this, but the coins aren't permanently gone you just have to pick them up from were you found them previously. (The level full resets upon death) Though if I keep it this way let's say you got 4 coins from lv 1 and then you make it to lv 2 and you die, those 4 coins you got would be permanently gone in that case. #asknostr #gamedev

That's my goal, I want coins to actually be important, and I plan to make upgrades that really make a difference stuff like double jumping for example. I don't want the player to feel like they might as well restart the game though if they lose coins. But I want the coins to be important enough that when you get to the shop (or however I do upgrades) you do think "dang, with i had those coins I lost on lv 2" or whatever.
