While on vacations I picked @Edward Snowden's Permanent Record for my poolside reading.
Only halfway through it but it looks like a good choice. It's very inspiring to see Snowden's account of his (and my) generation growing with the Internet and the way it felt in the early days.
That's part of what makes stuff like nostr so heartwarming, it's the hope of getting that 'vibe' back.

Exactly. nostr feels like the internet in 1997.
You remember how modems were hissing going online ? Text based Amazon ? IRC first time with a person thousands miles away ? ๐
The depiction of amount of "unelected" officials that make up the "Deep State" and how they are mostlyball living in a Silicon Valley like area called the Beltway was also very high opening.

Enjoyed Greenwald's book on the Snowden disclosures, would be interesting to hear about everything from his perspective.
I also can highly recommend that book. Though it describes technology from 15 years ago.
Enjoy reading! ๐๐งก
Also a good one! Snowden trying to teach Glen about PGP email was just so wholesome.
I finished it some weeks ago. Snowden came back online and boosted one of my older notes ๐คฃ
I already have used the book as a #RedPill several times, purchased and gave it away as gifts in my circle of friends and acquaintances. ๐๐งก
I listened to the audiobook when it first came out. Highly enjoyed!
Listened to it multiple times and helps keep the plot in my mind of what #bitcoin and #nostr can help overcome.
I've not got around to reading the book but I keep getting job invitations to join the intelligence services, is this a career you would recommend Ed?
In all seriousness though, you're a personal hero and I feel honoured being able to connect in this digital space. Thank you for everything you have done and you continue to do!
Read Greenwald's account too!
