Well, I'm an avid reader of the New Testament; unfortunately, 99.99% of Christians haven't read it—if they had, they would destroy the Catholic Church as an institution 🤭.

It should've collapsed from within many times over the vast 2 millenia. Why has it not is the more interesting question. I am Catholic, not to defend its rulers and principalities now or in the past, but it remains and its faithful fight for the spirit of it despite them.
