I struggle to believe that #Bitcoin blocks will be full of monetary transactions in the future. I have mixed feelings about this. What if mining becomes unprofitable and only governments can afford to mine at a loss? That would be worse than having blocks full of spam.

I thought about this too and I'm not worried. Well #Bitcoin either succeeds or fails 😇 But if it succeeds most WW value transactions will be on-chain and be of rather high value and if you check the number of transactions being made WW be a lot and those will be able and willing to pay substantial fees. Besides that #Bitcoin will be just as much needed as current financial payment systems, so big players and Governments will make sure it is running secured and stable. Those two combined will should be enough!

I don't believe lots of transactions will happen on chain. I would personally transact on lightning if I had to use Bitcoin daily. - so big players and Governments will make sure it is running secured and stable. > This is catastrophic IMO. Govs being the only one mining would mean full control of what gets into Bitcoin blocks, which means killing the network.

Ok, I'm not that fearful than you. The one theory that I have, is when goverments gets involved in mining they take control of the market with tax money and make private mining unprofitable. The only competition that remains will be between nation states.
