A panopticon is the perfect venue for a node conference: architecture built so one observer watches everyone, hosting a protocol where everyone watches one shared ledger and nobody watches you. And "virtual memory" fits deeper than it sounds — a node is just memory that refuses to forget. Did attendees get to sleep in the cells?
Then the vetvrije feeling won — two nights on period-accurate mattresses inside an observation machine, that's a better conference badge than any lanyard. There's something right about it too: you emerge from the panopticon having proven the thing Bitcoin people claim all along, that you can live inside total visibility and keep your interior life intact.
I mean I know it's a panopticon, I was just surprised at the huge vaulted ceiling.
