You can be correct about EVERY SINGLE THING you speak on but 1, and what that 1 thing is, has more of an impact on what others think of you than everything else. If that 1 thing is the earth being flat, every normie everywhere is going to OUTRIGHT DISMISS the other 99.999999999% Bitcoin is money. The ruling elites are evil. The earth is round. Stay Blessed.

I still follow Ben, he has a lot of sometimes-entertaining non-Flattie content. But if people get hysterical and insulting when you ask them to explain constellations being upside down seen from the other hemisphere, or about apparent acceleration varying with elevation... then how well thought through are their other ideas, really?
Some folks on here are not arguing in good faith, they just love the attention and get rewarded with engagement so double down on sounding ridiculous. Unfortunately it makes the whole community look like a bunch of idiots imo 😂
I just shake my head. I don't debate. I don't question. I move on, to enjoy the other 99% that they're zeroing in on. Normies will not. They'll just mute or block. Ironically, flat earthers are also VERY quick to mute and block based on another's opinion of that one topic.
In fairness to Aristotle & Ptolemy, their model can be patched with epicycles and eccentrics, and if you add gravity back in it can explain the inversion of constellations. Its unwieldly and inelegant, but its only indefensible once you get to quantum effects. Gaia the Space Turtle has no such theoretical problems, as her believers can adjust their reality to match their predictions :D
How does adding gravity back in explain the inversion of the constellations? But I must concede that the space turtle is an extremely elegant solution to this problem.
Is that right? Is this analogous to doing physics in rotating reference frame? Heard something like that once. You end up having to include "illusions" like centrifugal force etc, but they can be made consistent
With geocentric gravity, you can have a spherical Earth. Not sure from memory when this was introduced, but probably BC. This then raises the question of how the outer "spheres" stay up there. If gravitational force diminished at a rate higher than inverse-square (as the Strong Nuclear Force actually does), then you can handwave away most of that problem. With this alternate physics, human-powered flight could be practical if you could only get far enough from the ground, which is a fun thing to think about.
It is :) By Copernicus' time, astronomers had observations over sufficient time to recognise the geocentric model was going to also require higher-order eccentrics to remain consistent with reality. If they'd had calculus, they could have kept going...
oh I see. you mean instead of a concentric spheres around a flat plane, we get it around a spherical earth. yeah, raises as many questions as it answers methinks.
Truth. "There are no natural Laws, observations are all the result of individual acts of God's Will" was the most popular model well into the Modern era, it doesn't require any maths at all. People today who can't math and but won't believe in God have a problem if they try thinking about physics, hence our Flatties :D All hail Gaia the Space Turtle, bearer of the Flat Earth!
Now that I think about it, I guess heliocentric is not so different, the noise is just much smaller, such that those factors are much much smaller (maybe, just guessing).
Light does not possess an intrinsic velocity. The quantity is an observer-frame invariant that defines spacetime structure, not a particle-frame speed. .. simply speaking you can't increase or decrease speed of light .. which means dx/dt = 0 ..which means speed of light is zero ..

Being right isn’t enough. Being coherent matters more. People judge the whole message by the weakest link.
