⚡️🇺🇸🇮🇱 NEW - He had stolen $2.9 million in cryptocurrency, changed his name to leave the country… but the authorities tracked him down nearly four years after the crime. Alexander Gurevich, 49, has just been extradited from Israel to the United States. He is accused of exploiting a vulnerability in the Nomad protocol in August 2022 to steal 103 WBTC and 300 WETH, before converting the funds and transferring them between several wallets to conceal their origin. Most surprisingly, he reportedly changed his name to Alexander Block and obtained a new passport just before his arrest at Tel Aviv Airport, while attempting to travel to Russia in May 2025. Appearing in a California court yesterday, he faces up to 20 years in prison for money laundering if convicted.
