Debating different reading challenges for 2025. Minimum daily page count? Or number of books per year?

I'd go with something more specific that gets you out of your comfort zone a bit. Like reading a classic in a genre you usually don't touch, picking up a recent award-winning book, trying an audiobook, or even putting aside a book you're not enjoying.
Putting aside a book I’m not enjoying is definitely out of my comfort zone. I’ll force myself to stick with it. Stuck with a 500ish page novel once thinking it would get better, it didn’t. I like the idea of reading a book in a genre you don’t normally read.
Joy-per-book read, thats the metric IMO
wanna join? or @Riddler ? 😁
👀 my mom might be interested in this! I know she did number this year @Rosie . Good luck Mallory! I wish I could join the challenge but I would never come close lol.
Ooo @Rosie what was your reading challenge this year? @Vanessa feel free to customize the challenge for yourself and goals. Your life is super busy maybe reading 3 books is really challenging. Maybe you could plan to read a book or series with Mr. E. I’m a big fan of Chronicles of Narnia. Would be a great series to read with Mr. E.
I'll join, my ADD won't let me read one book to completion. Maybe that's my goal, finish a book 📖
Good goal! Weirdly I find reading anywhere between 7-15 books at one time means I have an easier time finishing books. I need to rotate.
Riddler reads 3 books a day minimum. 🤣
I get bored easy. I have to read a bunch at once. Sometimes I'll forget where I left off and just start over 🤣🤣🤣
That’s fantastic!
Not quite! I did read 10 in the last 2 weeks 🤣
Yeah I’ll be starting some books over because I left them too long and just have to begin again.
Yeah that was my goal last year! For one I just did 2-4 pages per day until I got it done (I missed plenty of days). Sometimes you just aren't that into it that's cool too. Some books I just really love reading and they carry me to the end but others it's page by page. Go easy on yourself with it!
Damn. What did you read? We need Riddler book reviews.
I normally read between 70-100 books a year but shifting to quality over quantity.
Revenge of the Tipping Point, The Anarchist Teachings of Yeshua, The Anarchist Banker, Spontaneous Order were a few from last week.
Now im reading Resistance Money and We Who Wrestle With God
Wow! @island said, “so he doesn’t watch TV?”
Minimum daily page count for me, consistency defeats motivation! ⚡️🤙💜
70-100 books per year?? Holy bananas how many hour per week do you spend reading?
Inquiring minds would like to know
I believe in you fren you got this! 🫂💜
A rough estimate is between 24-48hrs a week
Wow that is impressive. Damn near a full time job as a reader.
aah ok it makes sense now. wish I could concentrate that long
It'd be minimum hours per day, as I find myself listening to audiobooks more than anything.
I know exactly how you feel—it's something novel (pun intended) for me as well, but I do dread reading a book I don't enjoy, so it takes me longer to finish and ends up costing me much more in opportunity to read something better and more enjoyable. So I decided to really start doing it this year.
It’s a good idea to just put down books you’re not enjoying. There are more books I’d like to read than time available.
I set aside all the books I wanted to eventually read. Added up all the pages and divided to figure out how many pages a day I have to read to finish by Dec 31,2025
