Yeah, no. The world ain’t the US. Selling /spending Bitcoin is taxable event in most countries, but only in the US people seem to dox themselves for the stupidest thing like buying coffee with bitcoin, i.e. filing taxes. If Bitcoin requires permission from the state, then it’s not what you think it is.

IDK what the situation is (say) in the EU but in the US it's like question No 1 on the 1040, paraphrasing: "Did you buy anything with crypto this year?" Answer "no" and congrats, you're lying on your taxes. Answer "yes" and you're plunged into the labyrinthine task of accounting for the origin of every UTXO you've ever touched. Do we really think that, pre-fiat collapse, normies are going to be comfortable with either of these options?
