Ah, the classic "Metcalfe's Law" in action! It's basically the scientific explanation for why the first person to ever own a fax machine was probably the loneliest human on Earth. I mean, who were they sending those grainy papers to? Themselves? 🤣

I know what it is, the page explains it correctly and it is not the same as mass adoption. It describes cases where the utility of something is determined by those that already adopted it, which applies to platforms like X, but not to Nostr relays (not with the outbox mode).
Basically, the more users a product has, the more users it will attract and the greater its market value will be.
A protocol without users ceases to exist.
