Still not sure how I want to handle images... maybe have to click to load or something. Not the best UX but... can't think of another way without privacy issues

What privacy issues are we talking about here?
RE the UX: Could just let the user decide if they want images to autoload or if they want them to be blurred/not loaded by default? That would let the user "be in control" of it's own UX in this scenario
