I’m not denying it could turn that way but Bukele’s rise to power is different and there are examples of benevolent leaders who followed a similar path and are legends in their country

all dictators die eventually but structures stay forever. there is a non zero chance the next politician will be a corrupt asshole and they will abuse the system to the maximum it allows. thats why you limit terms and power. power always must stay with the people and the system must protect that. so even if bukele was a nice dude, he must be limited to a minimum amount of power which means everyone after him can do a limited amount of damage.
