My dad was an engineer and he was obsessed with CME’s. —When I was a young teen, I was certain our power grid would get toasted at some point. That was ~40 years ago. Nada. CME’s happen all the time (I have an RSS feed) the reason they rarely hit Earth (ie Carrington Event of1859) is because of the vast distance and the absurd number of directions they can emit from The most recent “Carrington-Level” CME was in 2012 Here’s a 4min vid on that one. That's why I drive a 1980s model with points. Radio lights and alternator would stop working but the car itself will continue running.
2024 was the most recent one, actually. It was identical to the OG Carrington event. That was in May of that year, and people didn't notice. You should've seen how scared shitless @Neigsendoig Cocules was. It turns out he sucked Catholic dick for 22 years before he started to, hence, why he was scared of a lot of thing. He's now pissed at the Jesuits and the Vatican for fooling him. Rightfully so.
