ATT does not allow one to switch from 5G to 4G on the Galaxy 25 S and other Android phones. It is shaded out in settings and Samsung says it is ATT adding this to the phones they sell. If buy one from Samsung can disable. Are there devs out there that can re enable this feature?

You can run a custom rom and do whatever you want.
i thought custom roms were ded
No?
which phones still let you do that? it used to be broad and then for the most part it was samsung devices, due to their high market penetration and supply
i'm curious what phones can still be reflashed with a fully custom rom because i'm generally pissed at android devices now because they are so loaded with spyware and crapware
OnePlus and other phones from the parents, I'm sure many if not all Samsung's are eventually cracked, Motorola, Pixels, etc.
yeah, motorolas maybe you can root but reflashing not done that since like a decade, their rugged phones are nice but no custom roms for a long time now
the constant gatekeeping is part of the reason i am so dirty on mobile devices, it's just fucking rude, you know what i mean
They are alive and well.
This us what I would highly recommend for an amazing android experience without all the evil from Google.
Motorola devices and one plus seem to be some of the easiest ones for getting it up and running smoothly. Samsung's are very much a pain in the ass, but doable too. They have an extensive device list and their community support is excellent.
LineageOS – LineageOS Android Distribution
LineageOS Android Distribution
Sure. But there are still options.
i've got very used to having rugged so, yeah, rugged phone with custom rom, that's my specific requirement, and it's a hard one i think, i just don't even bother, because i barely put the thing in my pocket anyway
Maybe one of these days it will happen again.
i probably won't waste my time until it's a fully electro-shielded thing that uses a quantum entanglement uplink with no range problems and no EMP fail problems
in the meantime i just buy cheap blackview
Fair enough.
I really do prefer the better camera hardware on my OnePlus.
yeah, my bv4800 has pretty poor camera
Yup.
it can read LN QR codes so meh
If that's what you need to do, then it's fine.
Thanks Beave, was away for a while. I carry mine in a faraday bag to help and turn off censors...better than nothing and I know shouldn't use at all but enjoy the convenance part of the slick Galaxy S25 Plus and got it free from damn att promo lol. Now I do not know what to do as you mentioned. How bout the LineageOS as TheLegendaryMan posted? What about Graphene OS or whatever it's called. Is that what you're talking about? I just basically want to turn off the damn 5g when I want to. And ATT won't allow it no more on the Galaxy 25S but can still do on iPhone with ATT but probably not for long. I appreciate your input!
Thanks, will I be able to disable 5g and switch to 4g at will?
Not sure, but have you tried Pixel phones and put CalyxOS? That works best for me:
CalyxOS
Thanks! Will see if works with mine...
