tv remote was having some issues so i decided to use my phone as a stop gap for a few hours(most android/google TVs have a remote service)
every app on the playstore that uses this service is filled with ads. like, press a few buttons and an ad pops up (navigate too often? have an ad!) 😅 i run pihole/unbound so the ads never load, but makes me wonder how on earth does anyone tolerate apps like that

No physical button/feedback is why no one uses them
haptics can help with that, it's just sad that every app trying to be a remote (which all kinda suck) has to be an ad serving service too in order to be successful
id vibe code something instead, but i fixed my remote already 😅
Yes my point is that it's flawed from inception so the app creators are not investing in better exp and try to monetize as fast as possible, only a good idea on paper as people want to click buttons without looking at the remote and hear/feel the clicks - people go back to physical remote as soon as the physical remote is fixed
