yeah most people didn’t give a shit about open source work, but nostr is different. people seem to really care about what is happening here and are willing to put some money down for full-time work on features. Most open source projects don’t have enough users to sustain fulltime dev, so they end up being weekend projects that you tinker on outside your job. I mean we are nowhere near enough users to support many fulltime devs independently from grants, but maybe one day.

then prioritizing real user stories should have been incentivized by these vcs. we literally had snowden, arguably the best user story, telling us nostr doesn’t work on tor and yet the carrot holders prioritize custodial zaps and normie ux. if nostr’s core value prop is censorship resistance, and literally snowden is giving you feedback, how we gonna drop the ball? I’ll bet a carrot of bitcoin can influence that, knowingly or not.

More users, more people willing to pay for features, more people zapping, etc. it all comes down to users and retention.

We agree. We know the effects of douchebag Techbros are real and have consequences. But feel what drew both of us here in the beginning… there is something different happening here. The potential is still there.

The killer nostr app is not twitter. It is (will be) so much more. The most important tech we have ever seen was relased anon. For good reason. The most intelligent among us should recognize this and humble themselves. Put away greed and focus on good. The key is trust. The multitude are not trustworthy, but a large contingent are. Know your audience, and let primal be primal.
