Her issue is that they are sending it to a militarized government. Implying if a government was not militarized (hers) that the collection and use is more acceptable?

She is correct. She would also do exactly the same if in power. The only solution is decentalization/devolution of power to the lowest level possible. Subsidiarity.

Decentralization can be part of the solution, but it doesn't solve the issue alone. A decentralized system, where the data is shared publicly, allows data collection without paying a centralizing entity.

It's scary when, instead of wanting to try to regulate themselves so they won't misuse a power against us, they want to regulate away an opportunity from us "so they won't have the chance to misuse it against us". "You can't have car's because we can't be trusted to not drive them into you."
