The big one you hit on is the fact that your social graph doesn’t go with you, and part of that is related to why you also have no real global feed. It doesn’t even feel public, which defeats the whole purpose. The instance “moderation” and censorship is just icing on the let’s-trade-one-silo-for-a-different-silo cake.

In Mastodon an entire instance can block another instance. You’re correct it’s not truly public. How can mastodon be anti censorship when admins just decide that xyz instance is too raunchy for me to see. Let me decide for myself.
