It's never going to be perfect. It's hard to tell, but this is the best humanity has ever had it. So obviously something has worked out. We can do better, but that doesn't mean no good has happened.

Ah yes, he best humanity has ever had is when there are more slaves then any time before in history, and we get to watch videos of Israelis raping babies on our phones while the politicians tell us that it's good for Israelis to rape babies and we all deserve to be killed for saying raping babies is bad.

Still, my point would be the same. People pretend like life was a fairytale when the reality is that far more people suffered many more horrors than now. Natural and unnatural. People lose sight of the progress that has been made because of the bad that still exists.
