Hi Ben @BTC Sessions and Adam @Adam O’Brien. I was wondering if this was on your radar as fellow Albertans and prominent Bitcoiners. And Dave too, since I don’t have his npub. I was kind of dismayed seeing that the latest group email from Alberta Prosperity Project includes an endorsement and marketing material for a “decentralized in name only” service called Barter-It. APP members are being encouraged to sign up for this web based service that employs a social media component and new coins (ingeniously called Bits) to permit users to connect and trade goods and services. It just seems crazy that the Alberta sovereignty movement is officially pushing a new service and a new coin, when Alberta is home to some of the best minds in the Bitcoin space, who are already helping people living under oppressive regimes around the world. Barter-It’s office appears to be in Toronto, ON. The very province that Alberta seeks to separate from. I sent an email to APP asking if I could get their thoughts and perhaps some more clarification on how their service works. And why they aren’t just using an immutable and truly decentralized option. Here is the text of the email I sent to APP requesting info: Subject: Question Regarding Barter-It Promotional Material in Official APP Communications Hi APP, I was wondering if you had considered an immutable medium of exchange ledger that already has established payment rails, on a decentralized protocol, to encourage your members to use for trade, rather than a centralized web app and points system. I’m referring to a medium of exchange that people around the world living under oppressive regimes are already using to exchange value for goods and services. You could greatly leverage an established network protocol that has been operating with 99.9% uptime for the past 16 years without inventing a new coin that isn’t really decentralized and is subject to human management to maintain the integrity of, rather than math and a fixed supply. Alberta is home to some of the leading minds in the space when it comes to “freedom money”, including members of the Human Rights Foundation who have assisted in setting up decentralized trade in some of the harshest political environments on the planet, with success. Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.  Regards, ————- I intentionally omitted the word bitcoin from the emails. Since anyone with half a brain will immediately either ask a question about what asset I am talking about or immediately know already. Anyway I just wanted to get this on your radar and get your thoughts if you had any. I have a direct line to the CEO of the APP but my initial mention to him about bitcoin many months ago was met with talk of “bananas taped to the wall” as currency. I find it amazing that the organizers of this movement in Alberta hold such a dim view of an asset that successfully allowed donors to get money to people in the Trucker Convoy, a movement that was very aligned with APP principles. #asknostr #grownostr #alberta #albertasovereignty

This outfit appears to have the right idea, just avoiding the Bitcoin piece for now. A good opportunity to provide some education and perhaps meet others looking to subvert big business and big money in our supply chain.

Correction: *,they are just avoiding
Avoiding the word might also help your email deliverability, in case their email provider would send it to junk mail.
