The concept of a public wallet is very interesting and we need to explore more. It goes beyond zaps, where transactions are public and everyone can see them, but balance is private. With onchain, you get a free, public, identifyable address to receive anything without having to pick and be locked into a lightning provider or a cashu mint. But anyone can see and verify its yours. All proof of reserves should be publicly verifiable - this is what bitcoin is great for. Vastly different use case than what these guys are describing.
