I don't get this. If they have to release by law, surely they should be in court for breaking the law?

There are hundreds of ongoing cases regarding Epstein files. Judges have to redact info. Not all redactions are from the DOJ. Likely a minority. Victims have to be protected, collateral damage has to be avoided, a fair trial has to be preserved, etc.

I don't doubt any of that in principle. But then a whole bunch of victim names were released so it's hard not to be somewhat suspicious of what's happening in practice and there are people obviously slow walking the process. It's an interesting thought on how one maintains accountability for delivery of ballot box promises. But that might result in representational government and that's a bit of a scary concept right
