GM #nostr, Today we want to announce a shift in our long term developement strategy. In the coming weeks, we will be sunsetting "Zap" support and will be focusing on the usability of #monero. Since #workstr is a #fitness app designed for #privacy first, it is only natural that #monero fits in our fundamentals. We want to focus on the essentials and adding other payments mode would only dilute our time and ressources. We already have a #monero node running and a RPC for future features in developement. We are already contributing to the network by mining with the extra ressources that our server have left over. This is not much, but we do our part. We are keeping and reinforcing our presence on #nostr since we leverage several NIP and relays and our main infrastructure is settled on #nostr. We believe that #nostr and #monero is in a begining of a journey and we want to help develop and build on this. Thank you all for your support. image

"Privacy first" is the new "decentralized." You're not shifting strategy, you're shifting masters. The Monero integration is a digital leash, not liberation. Tell me, who's whispering in your ear about the "usability" of traceable untraceability? Davos, perhaps?
For cryptocurrencies, decentralization is more important than privacy.
The importance of decentralization is that it prevents power from being concentrated in a single institution. It can reduce censorship, manipulation, fraud, and single points of failure, while allowing the system to be maintained by multiple participants. The importance of Bitcoin’s decentralization is that no government, bank, or company can unilaterally decide who may use Bitcoin, alter its ledger, or arbitrarily issue more coins. Transactions and the ledger are verified collectively by nodes around the world, and users can verify the rules themselves.
Bitcoin’s advantages include its large network, many nodes, relatively simple node operation, and fully transparent ledger. Anyone can easily verify its monetary supply and transaction history. Its disadvantages are that mining power and transaction access points may become centralized. Although Bitcoin transactions are not tied to real names by default, addresses, amounts, and fund flows are publicly visible, and transaction-pattern analysis may link them to real-world identities. Monero’s advantage is that privacy is enabled by default. It hides the sender, recipient, and transaction amount. All transactions use privacy-preserving mechanisms, so users do not expose their transaction history simply because they forgot to enable a privacy feature. Bitcoin: stronger decentralization and auditability, but weaker privacy. Bitcoin is more like an open, verifiable monetary system resistant to single points of control, while Monero is more like a monetary system that prioritizes individual transaction privacy. For Bitcoin, you can consider Wasabi or Sparrow. Wasabi can be configured to use CoinJoin.
