On that point what do you think life would be like if over 80% of people don't have jobs because of ai and stuff. Would life get better not having to work ?
Good question. It is important to have meaningful activity and purpose. Otherwise, why exist? I made the original remark somewhat in jest. In some regards I fancy the timeless nature of life without hard tech, but maybe the jack is outta the box and ai (while fragile) is inevitable in its immediate continued development. If it replaces rather mundane jobs and allows greater efficiency (especially environmentally but that may be unlikely) so that people can be granted the opportunity to slow down a bit, that may not be terrible. so much to hypothesize surrounding this topic but I don't wanna drag on too long here.
I relize your point and to confirm that lol everyone thought the same when all that fancy farm equipment came out where one farmer now could do the work of 100s at a fraction of the time....yet look how much food cost. Or how the industrial revelation happened. We could make better stuff faster easier.. yet seemed people got paid less and had to work more. So maybe just wishful thinking on my end lol
That's why I liked your post as I used to be a roofer and related to you basically saying ... ok ai you want my job ... here you go 😅
Sorry to post again lol but I just thought that maybe jobs would just move to less conventional areas. Like explanation, research ... like star trek style 😅 they basically had free food and all of space but yet they turned exploring space into a "job"
We have an inseparable connection to soil. To life as we know it, there is nothing more valuable and critical that fertile ground. That connection between us and the earth, from which these bodies are built, needs to be maintained and rekindled. Hands and feet in the dirt, the grass, the sand, the lakes rivers and oceans. Planting trees/ seeds and stewardship of land is a great human activity. Beyond earth, I find the only way out is in. We can't take our bodies with us.
