What a touch!
Do you think there's going to be a market for incandescent bulbs?
Could be.
Idk if many people are aware of light stress and blue light damage
I have those fluorescent tube bulbs in my classroom and have to keep them off; they give me a headache.
Its the flickering as much as the blue light I think.
Yes and probably also the color spectrum
Do you know of any solutions that you can retro fit?
Just use as much sunlight, incandescent lights and IR lights. I'm also quite new to the blue light damage and light stress
Open windows if you can
Incandescents still have flicker. Red lights are best but hard to see. Have incandescence in the house but careful how they are used. Do t sit right under them. Wall or floor is better as the light does not get so close to eyes
Yes true. It's not a permanent solution for now, but at least better than the ones I had before. Will change to red lights and IR soon
I have warm white led bulbs, to me they look the same as the incandesent bulbs. Or am I missing something?
As far as I'm aware, they flicker more and they have a different light/color spectrum
Is there any research on this, if there is some significant difference? I guess they both flicker at 50/60 Hz?
Sorry, I just saw they both flicker about the same amount. The problem is mainly the spectrum then.
What measure are you looking at for the spectrum? Is the kelvin parameter not valid? So for example, does a 2700K warm white LED contain some secret amounts of blue light?
It's mainly the lack of red light in the regular LED's that throw off the circadian rhythm.
That's mainly what I focus on now.
I do have to say I haven't done my research on this myself, but took it from Jack Kruse.
I did notice an improvement since I changed the light bulbs yesterday.
I do 100% know there is a difference since I've put a red filter on my phone and PC screen.
Without filter, my brain felt microwaved after looking at screens after a long period
Thatβs great! How much more in electricity cost do you think it is going to cost you?
The wattage is 60 watts now compared to 10 watt before, but it's honestly just to turn some lights on for a few minutes in the evening. Won't expect a much higher cost than before
You are right. Itβs not like you have downgraded your AC unit to an old power hungry one. Will be curious to hear your thoughts about the benefits you will take out of this π§‘
It's better for your mitochondria and helps you better fall asleep at night.
I also have candles in places where I couldn't change the light to incandescent ones
I love how you walk the walk and get up and do things (ie: your tallow soap)
Thank you for the compliment.
I just wanna make sure I have some quality years left on this planet.
Followed you fren π«
That is my philosophy as well. Proof of Work π§‘π€πΌ
Proof of work is everything.
I'm also lucky my buddy
@StackinBeets is also doing a lot of research on the same topics and we both can compare our field research.
1 long night of gaming really showed us how bad all these blue light are for us and now we're experimenting what alternatives we have
Quitting weed helped a lot in my case π
Talking about light π
And haha, hear you about the weed, it does feel good but the weight of your soul is multiplied by 21,000,000 at least lol

Ye I keep lots of windows and doors open so there's heaps of fresh air circulating and I do get good natural light but we also have lots of overcast grey days when you need the lights on
Nice place to get your light.
Mine is not as fancy, but it gets the job done π

I'm from Belgium, so I know what you mean π
Can't zap you for some reason
Great terrace to get your Vitamine D!
What are you going to plant in here? π
Even though I just quit weed, I have some weed autoflowers germinating atm π
Thatβs sweet, thank you. Using Damus here and I just connected my LW on Primal. Still figuring out Nostr. If you have the patience to add me and continue there:
@Laymooneh
Added and zapped π
Weird that i donβt see the rest of our comments on here
I recently started to use the βnight shiftβ mode on my phone and laptop. That adds like a warm yellow hue, also I lower the brightness.
This was mainly cuz I noticed a sensitivity to light/dark contrastsβ¦ didnβt really have any issues with sleeping though.
I even installed an app called twilight to make it more red π
I did notice without filters, I felt more awake in the evening, so it was more difficult for me to fall asleep. It also helped my brain to feel less microwaved after staring at screens for long periods..
Sometimes working with 2 clients can give issues. And maybe also relay settings..
oh that app sounds helpful! my other strategy along with the night shift mode, and lowering brightness is to just not use screens much after like 7 pm β¦ meditate β¦
it also might be related to the fact that I havenβt been to get my eyes checked since 2019, and I found out that my left lens prescription was a little too high. So I got that fixed, and got transitions lenses for outside. Soooo much better.
I think itβs not so much the βlightβ that affects my sleep, but more like the speedy pacing of online activity that gets me mentally jittery. A lot of online activity tends to be about βvolatilityβ in many areas.
Good man . make them last last you for a long time
Yes, so true.
During the day I try not to use my phone or other screens as much, but it's still difficult.
Mostly I'm on them in the evening, cause I do most of my work and tasks during the day and in the evening I Mostly watch some shows or am on Nostr π
The twilight app did help immensely with my phone usage..
Yeah, I'm gonna try.
I will not use them a lot anyway.
The lady did say they were all second hand and she didn't knew how long they would last. But I'm already grateful she still found some and gave it for free.
I did promise her I would give her some of my soaps π
Where did you learn about Nostr?
My buddy
@StackinBeets made me aware of Nostr
How about you?
Through the Bitcoin rabbit hole. And am interested in sovereign decentralized things in general.
What client do you use?
Amethyst and Primal.
But mainly Amethyst
So even if they have warm colour, they can still cause light stress? π€
I would say yes, but it's mostly about the colour and the spectrum as far as I understand and experienced
I miss the old bulbs...
I still have 8 π
Iβll check Amethyst, i like the name :))
Amethyst is nice for android
Shit, i have an iphone π¬
Blue light sucks.
You can use LED but it has to be a lower kelvin rating, around 2500. The ones youβre talking about are called day bright and are usually around 4500k.
I hate them as well, feels too industrial, whereas the warmer colors feel more welcoming.
Indeed. The warmer ones feel much nicer π

pretty make sense harry . the standard light buld is all you need .
These are illegal in Europe, you are going to Jail.
Just found out this is actually true π€£
I am calling the police right now you criminal
Maybe I could interest you in some light bulbs before you make that call? π
How much β¬ are we talking about?
3 very hard to get light bulbs π
