I want to reduce the amount of blue light and light stress in my home, so I went to the local hardware store to ask if they still had some incandescent light bulbs. The owner told me they don't sell them anymore (like most stores) but I asked if they maybe had some laying around in the back of the warehouse or something. Long story short: she gave me 10 second hand incandescent light bulbs for free 😁

Incandescents still have flicker. Red lights are best but hard to see. Have incandescence in the house but careful how they are used. Do t sit right under them. Wall or floor is better as the light does not get so close to eyes
What measure are you looking at for the spectrum? Is the kelvin parameter not valid? So for example, does a 2700K warm white LED contain some secret amounts of blue light?
It's mainly the lack of red light in the regular LED's that throw off the circadian rhythm. That's mainly what I focus on now. I do have to say I haven't done my research on this myself, but took it from Jack Kruse. I did notice an improvement since I changed the light bulbs yesterday. I do 100% know there is a difference since I've put a red filter on my phone and PC screen. Without filter, my brain felt microwaved after looking at screens after a long period
You are right. It’s not like you have downgraded your AC unit to an old power hungry one. Will be curious to hear your thoughts about the benefits you will take out of this 🧑
Proof of work is everything. I'm also lucky my buddy @StackinBeets is also doing a lot of research on the same topics and we both can compare our field research. 1 long night of gaming really showed us how bad all these blue light are for us and now we're experimenting what alternatives we have
Talking about light πŸ˜‰ And haha, hear you about the weed, it does feel good but the weight of your soul is multiplied by 21,000,000 at least lol image
Ye I keep lots of windows and doors open so there's heaps of fresh air circulating and I do get good natural light but we also have lots of overcast grey days when you need the lights on
That’s sweet, thank you. Using Damus here and I just connected my LW on Primal. Still figuring out Nostr. If you have the patience to add me and continue there: @Laymooneh
I recently started to use the β€˜night shift’ mode on my phone and laptop. That adds like a warm yellow hue, also I lower the brightness. This was mainly cuz I noticed a sensitivity to light/dark contrasts… didn’t really have any issues with sleeping though.
I even installed an app called twilight to make it more red πŸ˜… I did notice without filters, I felt more awake in the evening, so it was more difficult for me to fall asleep. It also helped my brain to feel less microwaved after staring at screens for long periods..
oh that app sounds helpful! my other strategy along with the night shift mode, and lowering brightness is to just not use screens much after like 7 pm … meditate … it also might be related to the fact that I haven’t been to get my eyes checked since 2019, and I found out that my left lens prescription was a little too high. So I got that fixed, and got transitions lenses for outside. Soooo much better. I think it’s not so much the β€˜light’ that affects my sleep, but more like the speedy pacing of online activity that gets me mentally jittery. A lot of online activity tends to be about β€˜volatility’ in many areas.
Yes, so true. During the day I try not to use my phone or other screens as much, but it's still difficult. Mostly I'm on them in the evening, cause I do most of my work and tasks during the day and in the evening I Mostly watch some shows or am on Nostr πŸ˜… The twilight app did help immensely with my phone usage..
Yeah, I'm gonna try. I will not use them a lot anyway. The lady did say they were all second hand and she didn't knew how long they would last. But I'm already grateful she still found some and gave it for free. I did promise her I would give her some of my soaps 😁

You can use LED but it has to be a lower kelvin rating, around 2500. The ones you’re talking about are called day bright and are usually around 4500k. I hate them as well, feels too industrial, whereas the warmer colors feel more welcoming.
